Ludington, Michigan

   The harbor front community of Ludington, Michigan located in Northwest lower Michigan offers spectacular beauty, timeless charm, beautiful beaches, changing seasons and nearly unlimited activities. Mason County, Michigan's Gold Coast, encompasses a 495 sq. mile region along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan. The area includes the Great Lake Port City, Scottville, Ludington and the agriculturally rich crossroads of Mason County. 
   The S.S. Badger is the largest lake ferry service on the Great Lakes located in Ludington. The 60-mile cruise takes passengers, autos, RVs, tour buses, motorcycles, bicycles, and commercial trucks across Lake Michigan between Ludington, Michigan and Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The S.S. Badger takes four hours to cross the lake.

   West Shore Community College is located in Scottville. This college is located on 360 beautiful acres and was established in 1967. This community college offers many different associates degrees and certificates. This inexpensive community college also offers special events open to the public.    The population in Ludington is 8,357. Ludington is located 237 miles from Chicago, 161 miles from Lansing, and 98 miles from Grand Rapids. The average temperatures range is from 15 degrees Fahrenheit to 81 degrees Fahrenheit depending on the time of year. January has the low temperatures of 15 degrees with 29 degrees being the maximum average temperature. April has a maximum temperature of 56 degrees F with a minimum temperature of 33 degrees F. July has a maximum average temperature of 81 degrees F with a minimum of 57 degrees F. October has a maximum average temperature of 58 degrees with a minimum average temperature of 39 degrees F. The average annual precipitation is 33 inches. The average annual snowfall is 90 inches.
   The recreational season never ends throughout Ludington and provides opportunities that span the generations.   Ludington and Mason County has a friendly, small-town atmosphere with great natural resources where you can enjoy life in your new home or summer vacation cottage. It is within a 45 minute drive to everything from dune rides to casinos to skiing. Ludington State Park, often called the queen of Michigan’s parks features 14 miles of hiking and biking trails in beautiful forests and dunes, 3 campgrounds and over 7 miles of sandy beach.
